Brr.. Welcome to Fall! It is definitely starting to feel brisk outside. Remember that students go outside for recess each day, so please send your child to school dressed for the weather.
This week we went back to our All About Me unit as we talked about how we grow. We read a story called See How We Grow, and discussed the different stages from baby to child. Students practiced sequencing and made many text-to-self connections. The students really enjoyed finding word wall words in the text. These students are so smart and are learning new things so quickly. Make sure you check out our Word Wall Words tab to see the new words that the students should be starting to read.
In math, we took our Unit 2 test, and began Unit 3. It was a difficult test, and the students did very well. Unit 3 is on numbers 6-10, and understanding how to use a 10-frame. We are off to a great start already. Students also practiced counting coins, learned to play Top-it, wrote numbers 1-20, made addition problems with teddy bear counters, and practiced colors and numbers.
We had a fun end to the week when Jr. Achievement came to our school to teach us lessons about business and math.
