We focused on the story Pumpkin, Pumpkin, a story about a little boy who planted a pumpkin seed and how a pumpkin seed grows. We practiced sequencing and then also compared it to many other similar stories and made many text-to-text connections. We also read a fictional story and compared that to the previous texts. We reviewed setting and characters this week as well.
In math, students are finishing up our unit on numbers 6-10 and learning how to use a ten-frame. They also reviewed shapes and counting coins, practiced graphing, made ABC patterns, practiced recognizing numbers 1-20, and practiced ordinal numbers.
On Halloween 10/30 students are welcome to wear their costumes to school. I recommend sending a change of clothes in case your child becomes uncomfortable. Please remember the following:
~No masks
~No weapons
~No revealing clothing
~Keep bathroom needs in mind
~Please limit accessories and face paint
If you would like:
~Bring a NON-FOOD treat for your friends (stickers, little toys, pencils, erasers, little crafts, bracelets, etc.)
~We have 30 friends in the class
Thank you! We are really looking forward to our Halloween celebration!
Reminders:
~Book Report due Monday
~Field Trip Wednesday (bring warm clothes, a yellow Sauganash shirt, and a pillowcase or strong bag to carry a pumpkin)
~Book in the Bag due Friday
