This week we continued to learn about penguins and linked that learning to other birds. We talked about the characteristics of birds and put a chick life-cycle in order. We read fiction and non-fiction texts about birds. We practiced finding new information from informational texts, expanded our vocabulary, and added to our prior knowledge. We also made text to text connections between one of our favorite series, the Pigeon books.
In math, students were rock stars with our unit on ways to make teen numbers. We also reviewed telling time, counting coins, place value, how to read a calendar, and learned how to use a balance.
