This week we studied plants. We talked about what a plant needs to grow and the stages of a plant life-cycle. We also talked about different kinds of plants. We read some great non-fiction and fiction texts. The students did a great job pulling new information out of the informational texts, and made some great connections and inferences with our fiction texts. Their comprehension is impressive. Their reading skills are really coming along as well. All students are reading now, and some are reading as fluent as second graders!
In math, we wrapped up our unit on three dimensional shapes. There was a lot of new vocabulary, and the students did very well. We also reviewed telling time, finding more and less, addition and subtraction math facts, and learned how to use Geoboards. These students are becoming experts at multi-digit vertical addition. Many are even learning to carry!
Hope this weather continues to improve! See you Monday!
