YAY! Welcome to Spring finally! What beautiful weather we are having. Our plant unit made a lot more sense this week. :)
The students continued to learn about and master information about plants, including the life-cycle, the parts, and what a plant needs to grow. The students made fantastic flower diagrams and a Venn-diagram about what a plant needs. They also sequences the life-cycle of a plant and made a book about how a plant grows. You can see some of their fantastic work below.
In reading, we worked on finding the author's purpose and the lesson of the story if there was one. We also found the problems and solutions of the fiction texts we read and made text-to-text connections in the non-fiction texts we read. Students also discussed what the real (non-fiction) and make-believe (fiction) parts of each story were.
In math, we began our unit on sorting and classifying. The students are doing a great job even though this unit can be tricky at times. Students also practiced beginning multiplication, reviewed double-digit addition, played Addition Top-it, practiced estimating and measuring with a ruler, and reviewed and practiced greater than and less than.
HAPPY SPRING BREAK!!!! SEE YOU ON APRIL 25th! Safe Travels and enjoy your breaks!
