We studied community helpers this week. We read fiction and non-fiction texts and made lots of text-to-self connections. We also practiced learning information from a text. Students wrote about which community helper they would like to be and also completed projects demonstrating their understanding of community helpers settings and tools.
In math, we are still working on our more, less, and equal unit. During BUILD, students made and copied pattern block designs, demonstrated their understanding of numbers 1-10, played number concentration, completed a connect the dots firetruck to 30, made ABB patterns, and practiced number handwriting. Students are also off to a great start with coin names and values, place value, and addition sentences.
These students really enjoy challenging themselves and have made some incredible progress already!
