After reading The Jacket I Wear in the Snow, the students learned about rebus pictures (pictures that take the place of words), practiced sequencing and retelling, and learned how to alphabetize. Students even wrote their own, very impressive, rebus sentences.
The students have all truly come over the beginning of kindergarten hump. Almost all of them are reading and writing independently. It is so exciting to watch. I have included a bunch of writing samples below because I am just so impressed with what they were able to accomplish this week.
They are really coming along in math too. Their understanding of addition and now their transition into subtraction is impressive. I am pleased with how quickly they are learning and how excited they are for themselves.
Have a fabulous weekend. Enjoy the work samples below!
