We have been reading many books about Thanksgiving, both fiction and non. Students have been making great connections, retelling stories, making predictions, and asking and answering questions to check for understanding.
We have tied Thanksgiving into our writing and math as well. Students wrote about what they are thankful for, what they eat on Thanksgiving, and what they like about Fall and Thanksgiving.
In math, they wrote number words as they colored turkey feathers, played Roll-a-Turkey, colored a turkey in using color words, made a counting by 10's turkey, made fall subtraction problems, practiced counting and finding more, and wrote numbers more and less. We will be wrapping up our subtraction unit this week and will have our test on Tuesday. The students are really starting to get it now. It was challenging at first.
Hope you have a peaceful and enjoyable Thanksgiving with your families. We all have so much to be thankful for.

Tracing our feet for our "Foot Turkey" It's harder than you think! Mrs. Barrie even made us cut out our own beaks and waddles. Reading our Turkey poem and highlighting word wall words, digraphs, and words we can sound out. | Having fun in Music class But all this hard work... ...was worth it in the end! Love 'em! We have definitely mastered our color words now. Impressive! |
