This week we continued our Community and Me unit focusing on How We Grow. Students learned about the stages from newborn to adult. They talked about what people can do at each stage and made connections to babies/children they knew at each stage.
They practiced Read to Someone this week, and far exceeding our goal with this skill too. They are so well behaved and enjoy reading so much. Because they are doing such a phenomenal job, I have decided to let them try out Daily 5 stations earlier than planned. They cannot wait!
In math, we are practicing making and finding more and fewer and ordering numbers. This is a harder concept than it sounds. The students have been working hard. We will have our test tomorrow.
The students' All About Me posters were fabulous and so creative! The students were so excited to present them to their friends and ask their friends questions. They even got to switch classrooms and share with friends from room 102!
When reading at home with your child, be sure to ask him/her questions about the story. Challenge them to really think about the story. Ask them to make a connection to the text. These kids are unbelievable at doing this!
