We wrapped up our unit on reptiles and answered all of the questions from our KWL. You can see their outstanding knowledge below. They also practiced making a Venn-diagram comparing birds and reptiles. I am so impressed by how quickly they understood how to do this and the amount of information they were able to include.
Students learned about Abe Lincoln, his childhood, his demeanor, and some of the very important accomplishments he had. We compared Abe's life growing up to our own. The students found it to be quite different, especially since they have already been in school almost as long as Abe Lincoln ever was.
Students really enjoyed all of the fun Valentine's Day books this week. They made text-to-self connections as they compared their Valentine's festivities to those of the children in the stories. They also made text-to-text connections as they compared/contrasted The Biggest Valentine Ever to The Biggest Snowman Ever, The Biggest Christmas Tree Ever, and The Biggest Pumpkin Ever.
In math, students are finishing up their unit on how to make a whole into two parts. They reviewed coin names and amounts, practiced writing numbers to 50 correctly, played a super fun subtraction game, and played heart addition match.
