This week we focused on reptiles. In reading we read fiction and non-fiction texts about reptiles. We made text to text connections, compared and contrasted texts, found the problem and solution, talked about the main character, and learned new information from text. The students learned about different types of reptiles, characteristics of reptiles, and reptiles defenses. We also watched some very cool and interesting footage of chameleons changing colors, snakes shedding their skin, and how snakes unhinge their jaws to eat prey larger than them.
In math, we practiced telling time to the half hour, identifying even and odd, adding and subtracting, finding different parts to make the same whole, and using tangrams. Students took their math test on Friday and did a fabulous job.
