Our first full week in awhile was a huge success. The students were so excited to finally have art again on Friday. This week, we continued our study of mammals. The students really impressed me with their abilities and knowledge. We reviewed the characteristics and types of mammals. This week we concentrated on animal babies and their names. We read fiction and non-fiction books about mammals and identified each. We also talked about mammals who don't always seem like they would be. Students practiced gathering information from a text. Our new math unit even ties into our mammals unit. It is classifying and sorting, which is exactly what the students have been doing when sorting mammals and non-mammals. They are doing wonderful with this unit so far. Students also completed Thanksgiving math centers. They made a counting by 10's turkey, counted by 2's on leaves, made Fall subtraction problems, ordered teen number turkeys, and wrote number words on turkeys.
Reminders: ~Book Report due Monday ~Book in Bag due Tuesday ~Tic-tac-toe due the following Monday ~There are only 2 days in school this week. Enjoy your Thanksgiving Break! ~Please participate in the PTA Donation Drive and help us earn our class Pizza Party!
